One of the most beautiful cities in the world, Rio de Janeiro is the first city in South America that receives the Olympic Games. Moreover, the most famous Brazilian city surprises with good tourist infrastructure, the meeting of old and new and the unequaled beauty of Rio’s beaches to be discovered.
For those who want to go a little beyond the Copacabana beach, we recommend this walking plan with short runs by taxi through the neighborhoods of Copacabana, Leme and Botafogo.
Start the day with a delicious breakfast in the charming bakery Boulangerie Guerin (for this route, choose the unit in front of the Lido Square, Copacabana). The croissants always freshly baked and crispy, the warm baguettes, sweets are beautiful and delicious … hard to pick just one thing!
Then continue the tour through the very famous Copacabana Beach and enjoy to photograph the venerable and bright white facade of the Copacabana Palace, following towards Leme.
The next attraction that worth exploring is the Duque de Caxias Fort. Upon entering begins a walk down by a cobblestone road through the woods, where you can see the local fauna and the flora. At the top there are lookouts with telescopes for observation and an amazing view!
To rest a little, go to Bar do David, it serves cold beer, snacks like rice cakes with sardines and capers sauce and praised feijoada with seafood, in addition to the fair price and first-class service.
In the afternoon, the tip is to climb to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain by cable car, from there you can enjoy one of the most spectacular views of the city. We recommend buying tickets in advance and not suffering in the long lines.
After spending time in Sugar Loaf, go to WineHouse - Botafogo, small and cozy space that has interesting options to accompany the fine wines.
And to close the day, go to explore the Comuna, a mix of art gallery, party and funky hamburger stand. It is one of the best spots in Botafogo, do not miss!
Budget
4 BRL – Estimated ticket price per person for the Duque de Caxias Fort
76 BRL – Estimated ticket price per person for the ride on the Sugar Loaf using the cableway
Highlight:
The highlight of the day is Sugarloaf Mountain, a true postcard of the city and a lovely place full of adrenaline, just fantastic. It is worth going to know and admire the beautiful city from above!
